Willkie started the scoring in the top of the first with a leadoff
home run. He finished the night with four hits and three runs batted
in. Wade Jackson also collected four hits including two home runs
and drove in four runs to help lead the offensive attack. In a rare
start Willkie got the win in the milestone victory. “I’m just
glad to be able to be a part of this team and be around these guys.
I’ll play anywhere.” Said Willkie after the game.
In
the victory the team banged out a total of 27 hits including six
doubles and four home runs. Former En Fuego second baseman Micah
Wennekamp, who hadn’t played with the team since 1999, also
homered and doubled in the game. Wennekamp returned to the team this
season after being away for sometime.
Notes:
After this game En Fuego is now only four games away from 600 games
played all-time in team history…On October 11th they will face
rival Stac Pac in their 600th milestone game…Including
classification games it will mark the 59th meeting between the two
teams over the last ten years…En Fuego has a slight edge vs Stac
Pac with a record of 29-27-2.
