Willkie’s first ever softball game was played
with En Fuego in August of 2000. A talented player, Willkie
can play any position on the field. A true infielder with good
hands, he can play the outfield and pitch as well. His strong
play in both the infield and outfield gives En Fuego much needed
versatility.
Willkie is also an outstanding hitter. He
hits for power and to keep defenses honest he can take the ball the
opposite way anytime. He has won multiple batting titles while
playing with En Fuego hitting .700 or better each time including his
personal best of .794. On November 6th, 2008 he became the
sixth
player in En Fuego history to collect 1,000 hits.
Willkie is among the career leaders in many offensive categories
including homeruns, triples, doubles, RBI, and average. In
tournament play Willkie has earned all-tourney honors multiple times
and been named tournament MVP multiple times including the SCMAF T.O.C. in 2009. He is always in contention to
be the team’s MVP in league play winning the award numerous times. He
has also won the En Fuego Triple Crown award several times in his
career.
