Watkins has been with En Fuego since day one
and has played in more games than any other player in franchise
history. Early on, he took over as the team’s
manager and has led En Fuego to all but one of the league titles in
club history. In tournament play, with Watkins managing, En
Fuego has won all of its titles including back-to-back SCMAF T.O.C. championship
wins in 2003 and 2004 as well as a third SCMAF T.O.C. championship
in 2009.
He is the team’s primary pitcher and also ranks
in the top five in many career offensive categories. As “Coach” of En Fuego, Watkins has been able
to keep the pieces in place over the years to help enable En Fuego
to attain much of their success.
On July 25th, 2006 Watkins became the fourth
player in team history to collect his 1,000th career hit. He is one of
five regulars that have been with the team since
1995.
