SOFTBALL CLUB PURCHASES DOMAIN NAME
April 11, 2005
MISSION VIEJO –
The Orange County, California softball club "En Fuego"
has purchased the domain name "enfuegosoftball.com".
For only $149.90 they will own the domain name through April
11th, 2015. They will
have the opportunity to renew it when it expires in 2015.
The domain name had been locked down for quite some time yet there
wasn’t ever a web site enfuegosoftball.com.
"It could be that a company purchased the domain to
re-sell it perhaps,” said Frank Genco, West Coast Domain
Manager of Network Solutions. Genco
also added that Network Solutions sold the domain to En
Fuego, a slow-pitch softball team from Mission Viejo,
California for a reasonable price.
"If the domain name wouldn't have been released then En Fuego
would have had
to pay up to one thousand dollars or more just to get it."
After a short waiting period from the release of the domain
name it went back into the mainstream market and became available to
anyone. Jason England
and
Craig Watkins
of En Fuego jumped on it quickly to secure it once
and for all. "The
.com is universal,” said England "That's why we wanted it,
opposed to .net or others."
The next step for the new domain name holders is to actually launch
their website. "It's
almost there,” said Watkins "Jason's (England) been working
on it day and night. Soon,
hopefully soon the boys will be able to view it."
The website, enfuegosoftball.com, will launch sometime in the next
two months. There you
will be able to view the team's win-loss records, and
accomplishments as well as individual statistics compiled over the
last ten years. "We've
come along way since September 1995," said Watkins. When the
team played its first game ever.
"Now we'll have our own web site, 556 games later."
