Martnick originally joined En Fuego in the
summer of 1999. He made an immediate impact with the team as a
leader on offense as well as defense. His intense and high emotional
level of play has always inspired his teammates over the years. With
his great hustle and effort, game in and game out, he is a
consistent extra base hit threat and run producer for En Fuego.
Martnick was part of the only undefeated season
in En Fuego history when they won the 2000 Summer Chapparosa league
(13-0). He is always in contention for team MVP honors each season
as he typically puts up big offensive numbers and plays solid
defense in the outfield, always willing to sacrifice the body to
make a diving catch to hold an opponent down.
After 2001 Martnick took a break from softball
with En Fuego to spend more time with his family. In 2008 he
returned to the team and has played a key role in their continued
success. He has won multiple batting titles and MVP’s with En Fuego.
In the 2010 Spring championship season at Laguna Hills Martnick
batted .841, second all-time in club history and only the fourth
time a player has batted above .800 in a single season with En
Fuego. The multi-purpose Martnick can play both outfield and
infield. Martnick has as also hit for the cycle four times with En
Fuego as well.
